Mr Gordon Brown BVM&S, CertSAO, MRCVS (Orthopaedic Surgeon and Partner)

Gordon graduated from Edinburgh University in 1984. He joined the practice in 1986 and he is one of the partners. Gordon’s area of expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of small animal orthopaedics and spinal injuries. In 1994 he gained his Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics (an examination set by the Royal College of Vet. Surgeons) and was awarded The Leslie Vaughan Prize. Together with partner Simon, he runs the practices' orthopaedic and spinal referral practice. Outside the practice Gordon is a family man, married to Sarah, who works part-time in the practice and they have 3 children. The Brown family is completed by two dogs, Milly a young labrador and Archie, a Border Terrier, and a pony called Rocky!

Mr Simon Gilbert MA VetMB, CertSAO, MRCVS (Orthopaedic Surgeon and Partner)

Simon graduated from Queens' College, Cambridge University in 1988. He joined the practice in 1996, and became a partner in 1997. Simon’s area of expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of small animal orthopaedics and spinal injuries. He gained his Certificate in Veterinary Radiology in 1991 and Certificate in Small Animal Orthopaedics in 1994. Both are examinations set by the Royal College of Vet. Surgeons. Together with partner Gordon, he runs the practices' orthopaedic and spinal referral practice. Simon is married to Jane, also a vet who works part-time in the practice. They have a family of 3 children, a Norfolk Terrier called Lottie and two pet rabbits!

Dr Mark Reading MA, VetMB, PhD, CertSAC, CertSAD, MRCVS (Head of Primary Clinical Services)

Mark graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University in 1989. After a short spell in practice, Mark returned to Cambridge for 8 years. Initially he held the post of Assistant University Physician seeing cases referred to the Vet school in medicine and dermatology. In 1993 Mark started a research project into herpes viruses and was awarded a PhD in 1996. Since leaving Cambridge in 1998, Mark has been the Head Vet at a large veterinary practice in London and worked in another practice seeing referred cases in cardiology and dermatology as well as being responsible for a large primary case load. Mark holds the RCVS Certificates in Dermatology and Cardiology. Away from work Mark has many varied interests but notably his young Labrador Ella, renovating his cottage and taking part in occasional Shakespearian amateur dramatic productions.

Mrs Sian Saunders BVSc MRCVS

Sian graduated at Liverpool University in 1995. She joined the practice in 1999. Sian’s area of expertise is in companion animal medicine and surgery with a particular interest in small mammals and exotic pets. Sian works mainly from our Swaffham and Fakenham surgeries. She is married to Richard who works part-time in the practice. Outside the practice Sian is a keen photographer and has a much loved cat called “Jones”.

Mrs Sacha Rukaber BVMS, CertGP, MRCVS

Sacha graduated from Glasgow University in 1994, worked in mixed practice on the Norfolk/Suffolk border for 8 years before joining The Grove in June 2002. Sacha's interests are broad based in companion animal medicine and surgery, but particularly soft tissue surgery. In July of 2004 Sacha obtained by examination the Certificate in General Practice (Small Animal Practice). She is married to Ivan and they have a young son Alex and a tailess cat called T.C.!

Mrs Jane Gilbert MA VetMB MRCVS

Jane graduated from Queens' College, Cambridge University in 1987. She joined the practice in 1996 as a part-time assistant. Jane’s area of interest is in companion animal medicine and surgery. She works part-time in the practice and is married to Simon, one of the partners. She has a busy life divided between the practice and a family of 3 children and a Norfolk Terrier and two rabbits!

Mrs Hilary Russell BVSc (Syd.) MRCVS

Hilary graduated from Sydney University, Australia. She joined the practice in 1998. Hilary’s area of interest is in companion animal medicine and surgery. Hilary works part-time in the practice, mainly at our Fakenham surgery. She has two children, a cat and various smaller pets!

Mr Richard Saunders BVSc, BSc, CertZooMed, MRCVS

Richard qualified from Liverpool University in 1994. He has worked in general practice and also pursued his interest in small mammal, avian and exotic medicine by working in referral exotic practice in Gloucestershire and Manchester, and for several years at the RSPCA Norfolk Wildlife Hospital. In 2001 he gained the RCVS Certificate in Zoological Medicine. Richard works part-time at The Grove and continues to work for the Wildlife Hospital at East Winch. Married to Sian, they live in Swaffham with their cat “Jones”.

Mr Steve McReady BVSc (Syd.) MRCVS

Steve (like our other antipodean, Hilary) graduated from Sydney University, Australia. Steve is our regular locum vet, and is often seen in our clinics covering when one of us is away from the surgery. Steve has worked for many practices in the area and has a wealth of general practice experience, at home and abroad! He lives in Norwich with his Bull Terrier “Wombat”!

Mr Colin Houston BVM&S, MRCVS

Colin graduated from Edinburgh (Dick) Veterinary University in 1999. Colin has worked in a variety of practices since qualifying including in New Zealand and the outback of Australia! Colin is interested in all things surgical and is studying towards the RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. Colin's main interests away from work are various outdoor pursuits including rock climbing, camping, mountain biking, gill scrambling, skiing …………!

Miss Catherine Brierley BVM&S, MRCVS

Catherine qualified from Edinburgh (Dick) Veterinary University in 1999. Like partner Colin, Catherine has wide experience of veterinary practice both at home and abroad. Catherine is interested in all aspects of both small animal medicine and surgery. On their available free weekends Colin and Catherine will often be found heading for the hills with their camping equipment!
